Anywho...
Obviously, I love autumn because of my birthday, Halloween, and Thanksgiving. Not so obvious are my other reasons, but I'll discuss all of them in this post.
(side note: I'll writing more reaL Nlog posts. They will take on the responsibility of containing my thoughts more than essays. Essays will now be deeper (so no more "Dreaming about Sleep" (what I consider my weakest essay) and more "Why Does Cheese Taste Better as It Ages?" and "Freedom in a Book" (two of my favorite essays)))
My birthday happens to fall in the middle of October and it is usually fun. I haven't done much with my birthdays lately, but I'll probably have some sort of party with friends this year. Not only that, but getting presents is always fun.
I absolutely love Halloween. It is probably my favorite holiday (unless you ask me around another holiday) and I love the weeks preceding it. I love frightening people and being all-around creepy (in a good way). The music is terrifically wonderful and I have a special treat in store this year. The general feel of Halloween appeals to me in a way that few other holidays do. I love the idea of creatures in the night terrifying your neighborhood. I actually love being frightened and creeped out, especially around Halloween.
This is surprising because as a little kid, I hated being scared. I hated spookalleys. I could not watch terror movies because I wouldn't be able to sleep. I spent many of nights in terror of little dolls because I caught a few glimpses at a certain movie.
But now I love Halloween. Strange, isn't it?
(side note: school is eating all of my time. I mean, it is eating it like a zombie would munch on someone's brain. Or like how a Pilgrim would devour the first Thanksgiving.)
Thanksgiving is another holiday I love, not for the gorging of food, but because the food is delicious. I like having an excuse to stuff myself as full as I can as much as the next guy, but that's not the only reason. My family have a tradition of playing football on Thanksgiving. We play flag football. Of course, this doesn't stop being from tackling you first and then pulling your flag out. I also love getting to see family (although it's not like I don't see them often).
(side note: school left a message: "Hey, you know how you like to do all that fun stuff? Ha, here's seven hours of homework! Enjoy your night!")
Another reason I love autumn is for the leaves. I positively love the colors of the leaves before they fall (pun intended). I also love raking the leaves. Why? Because I can get a whole pile of them and enjoy the crunch. Of course, if it rains or something, then it's soggy and disgusting. It's kind of a "get it while you can" thing.
I also love the cool weather. It may be my personal opinion, but the weather around fall is just right. It's not too hot and not too cool. In summer, it's hard to enjoy doing things outside because it is just too hot and in winter, it's too dang cold! Fall is perfect.
(side note: oh sorry, this wasn't supposed to be here. Oops! Pay no heed to the man behind the curtain!)
Autumn is my favorite season. Sure, I love Winter's still nights, Summer's hectic yet pleasant days, and Spring's liveliness, but there is just something about Autumn that I like most of all.
Halloween, mostly. But still.
