Hello! This post is to explain a few things regarding what I'm going to be posting, as well as just a general explanation of what you can expect from this blog!
Basically, there are going to be two different types of posts, campaign posts and Adventurer's League posts.
The campaign posts are going to be posts following the campaign escapades of my friends and me. Currently, I only DM for one group of friends outside of the Adventurer's League, so the posts will follow the campaign that these friends happen to go through.
The Adventurer's League posts are going to be posts about the adventures I run in our group that we call The Adventurer's League. It's a very special group that does not follow the traditional campaign format, and for some very good reasons. Let me explain a little more.
Our Adventurer's League was started as a compromise between the desire to play D&D and schedule complications. The League is set up so players can miss sessions at will and not need to worry about getting behind or keeping everyone else behind. Each person involved can act as both a player and a DM. We all have several different characters at an assortment of levels, and we all take turns DMing (though those who don't wish to DM don't have to).
In the world of the League, The Adventurer's League is an organization that takes contracts and sends out adventurers to do various tasks, from saving caravans from a group of bloodthirsty orcs to cleansing an ancient temple from the powerful evil that has corrupted it. As such, each adventure is only tenuously tied to the other adventures, though sometimes clever DMs make a series of adventures tie together in the end. In other words, the League's adventures are episodic in format, often being completed in just one session.
I've created this blog as a way to share the stories that these groups create, either so others can run the same adventures or so others can take inspiration from what we've done. As such, each post will include a variety of things.
Each Adventurer's League (AL) post will be a whole adventure, while each campaign post will largely revolve on what the last session involved. However, it may vary from campaign to campaign. The posts will range from a storytelling-like way of describing what happened during the adventure to a very nitty-gritty, technical, rules-heavy explanation of it, and perhaps even an assortment of it all. I'll include my notes, the pictures I used (if not copyrighted), and music and background ambiance (links to, though, not actual files, because copyright issues).
I look forward to where this new adventure will take us!
