I don't quite know what led to this. I was reading an interesting blog post, my mind was half-paying attention, mulling over dreams, English class, and other things I can't recall, when the first few lines began to run through my head. Anyway, the point I am trying to make is that not everything has more than one meaning. Some things are just what they are. I don't know why I wanted to make this point, but I have.
In Between the Lines
I read in between the lines the other day
And I'm not quite sure what I saw!
I sat and I stared and au contrair!
I don't believe it was a lost cause.
I saw the page for its face value
and then looking even deeper in,
I thought I saw what could be there
and then what should have been!
All through the day I saw many things
most were probably wrong.
And then I heard something strange
what I thought might be a song.
The tune was gone, the music sore
the lyrics were even worse!
But then I looked deeper in
and the meaning was quite terse.
Then I looked again and saw
something most different.
But the third glance did reveal
my perspective was quite bent!
So then I swore not to try
to see in between the lines.
For that just leads to confused stares
and a lot of mixed signs.
