My Heart
Has died
For true
Today
And Life
Still walks
On top
Its grave
But she
Still comes
And sets
Flowers
On top
The dirt
That she
Showers.
Yet Life
Springs from
My si-
Lent grave
Made fer-
Tile by
The tears
She gave.
She waits
On me
For hours
And hours
While Death
And Time
My Heart
Devour.
Has died
For true
Today
And Life
Still walks
On top
Its grave
But she
Still comes
And sets
Flowers
On top
The dirt
That she
Showers.
Yet Life
Springs from
My si-
Lent grave
Made fer-
Tile by
The tears
She gave.
She waits
On me
For hours
And hours
While Death
And Time
My Heart
Devour.
So in English class one day, we were discussing poetry and different meters and the likes, and I pointed out how something could be iambic monometer and how weird that would be. My teacher made a comment about how it would be about "my heart has died" or something. So I wrote this right there in English class. Iambic Monometer, which means one set of unstressed, stressed syllables per line. If put to a beat, iambic sounds like a gallop.
